The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (FAU CBI) is pleased to welcome Prof. Dr. Randall Snurr (Northwestern University, United States), recipient of a Humboldt Research Award, hosted by Prof. Matthias Thommes (Institute of Separation Science and Technology).

Prof. Snurr is a world‑renowned leader in using molecular‑level simulation to accelerate the development of nanoporous materials for addressing pressing environmental challenges. His group has developed widely used software for simulating gas adsorption and diffusion in metal–organic frameworks and other nanoporous materials, as well as computational screening techniques leveraging machine learning. During his stay at FAU in Erlangen, he will focus on fundamental questions of adsorption hysteresis and diffusion in materials with hierarchical pore structures. More information is available here.

We look forward to a fruitful collaboration and a vibrant academic exchange.
