Welcome to the website of the Women’s Representative of the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering!

Promoting gender equality and implementing gender mainstreaming are key cross-cutting tasks at FAU. The implementation and monitoring of equality practices is ensured through the work of the women’s representatives in all central committees and commissions. Particular attention is paid to supporting early-career female researchers and increasing the proportion of women in academic qualification levels where they are underrepresented.

The current equality concept for the scientific area 2023-2027 forms the basis for the content-related, programmatic and practical orientation of equality, diversity and family policy at FAU and thus also for the work of the women’s representative.

The position of women’s representative is an honorary one. The tasks, duties, and rights of the women’s representative are defined in the Bavarian Higher Education Act (Art. 4). In addition to membership in appointment committees, the faculty council, and various commissions, the implementation of the target agreements between the university and the engineering faculty is another important area of ​​responsibility for the women’s representative (“target agreements“). These agreements aim to increase the proportion of women in academia. As part of these target agreements, outstanding female students and early-career researchers have the opportunity to apply for financial support for, for example, conferences, research stays abroad, and individual coaching.

Organization and offers

The women’s representatives of the Department of Chemical and Bioengineering are organized at the higher level of the Faculty of Engineering. On the website of the Faculty of Engineering’s women’s representatives, you will find information on equality programs and support measures for women, as well as an overview of contact points and counseling services for discrimination and sexual harassment.
